BAIL SET AT $100,000 FOR MT. VERNON WOMAN CHARGED WITH FINANCIALLY EXPLOITING THE ELDERLY

A 53-YEAR-OLD MT. VERNON WOMAN HAS BEEN ACCUSED OF ILLEGALLY USING $5,000 TO $50,000 FROM AN ELDERLY PERSON’S BANK ACCOUNT. SHEILA M. JOHNSTON WITH TWO CLASS 2 FELONY COUNTS OF FINANCIAL EXPLOITATION OF AN ELDERLY PERSON. THE CHARGES ALLEGE JOHNSTON WAS IN A POSITION OF TRUST AND ILLEGALLY USED AN ELDERLY PERSON’S ASSETS FROM FEBRUARY 2015 TO AUGUST 2017. THE ASSETS WERE FUNDS FROM A BANK ACCOUNT. JOHNSTON REMAINS IN THE JEFFERSON COUNTY JAIL WITH BAIL SET AT 100,000. SHE IS NEXT SCHEDULED TO APPEAR IN COURT DECEMBER 6 FOR A PRELIMINARY HEARING.
