Charles Mick was found fit over the summer to stand trial on multiple charges of sexually assaulting two children.

He was arrested in August 2016 and charged with three Class X counts predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13 and three Class 2 felony counts aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 13.

The three Class X charges were dismissed Tuesday in exchange for Mick filing an open plea of guilty to the three Class 2 charges. A Class 2 felony is punishable by between 3 and 7 years in prison. But with an open plea there is no agreement to sentencing or a sentencing cap in place.

According to court information, the charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Illinois State Police. The investigation showed Mick committed the sex acts against one victim between March 21 and March 27, 2015, and against another victim between 2006 and 2009.

A presentencing investigation was ordered in the case Tuesday, with a status hearing on the investigation scheduled for May 1.

Mick remains in the Jefferson County Jail, with bail set at $500,000.
