Illinois lawmakers are in recess until November after the 2018 General Session. The Illinois House and Senate have passed a budget on time for the first time in three years. State Senator Paul Schimpf says the budget isn’t perfect, but it passed the benchmarks needed for his vote.

Schimpf talks about what the benchmarks were for his yes vote.

Schimpf says in addition to being balanced with no new taxes, he says state employees will finally get money they are owed.

Schimpf says the budget works for this year, but it doesn’t do anything to pay back incurred debt.

Schimpf encourages any constituent with questions or concerns to reach out to him at his Mt. Vernon office. You can call their office at 242-8115.
