Torch Run for Special Olympics of Illinois Comes Through Mt. Vernon

The torch run for this year’s Special Olympics came through Mt. Vernon Monday afternoon.

The torch run started in Marion Monday morning and came through town up Route 37 on its trip to Normal.

A crowd gathered in front of IGA in Mt. Vernon to cheer on the torch runners on their trek through town.

This year’s Special Olympics Illinois will be held Friday through Sunday, June 15-17. For more information, you can visit so-ill.org.
