A 38-year-old Centralia man was sentenced in Marion County court Tuesday to 3-years in prison after he pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Jarcus Croft was arrested in April when Centralia police officers arrived found him pointing a handgun at another man who had his hands up and was backing away.

Croft reportedly dropped the weapon when he saw a Centralia officer had a gun pointed at him.

Police recovered a .22 Ruger from where Croft was standing. The weapon had five rounds with another already chambered and had reportedly been stolen.

Croft reportedly told police he had found the gun and was playing.

He was initially charged with Class 2 felony possession of a stolen firearm and Class 3 felony being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He pleaded guilty to the Class 3 charge in exchange for the Class 2 being dismissed. In addition to the 3-year prison sentence, Croft will have to serve 1-year supervised release at the end of the prison term. He’ll receive day-for-day good credit, as well as credit for time served since his April arrest.
