MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon Township High School District’s new superintendent has officially taken over his role. Jeff Fritchnitch comes to Mt. Vernon after being superintendent in the Altamont School District for 10 years. He has been in education for more than 30 years.

Fritchnitch says he looks forward to working with the school board, faculty and staff, and the Mt. Vernon community.

Fritchnitch says he understands the tradition of Mt. Vernon Township High School, and he wants to build on that success.

Fritchnitch’s education career has taken him across the state of Illinois. He says the only two areas of the state he has not worked in are the Chicago metro area and deep southern Illinois.
