CENTRALIA — A 37-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested early Tuesday morning for alleged battery of a Centralia police officer during an arrest for violating bail bond.

Tyrone Briscoe was taken to the Marion County Jail after officers tracked him down to the Industrial Tavern in Wamac.

Officers were initially dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance on McKee Street Tuesday morning. Briscoe was gone upon their arrival. But reportedly went to the alleged victim’s place of employment before officers located him at the tavern.

He reportedly fought with officers as they were trying to take him into custody for allegedly having contact with the victim in violation of his bail bond from an earlier case.
