MT. VERNON — Bail has been set at $100,000 for a 65-year-old Mt. Vernon man arrested Monday for alleged possession of child pornography.

According to Chief Deputy Clint Taylor, Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives began gathering information several months ago and obtained a search warrant for Aaron Thomas’ home. Thomas’ computer was seized, along with other items.

Taylor says the computer was searched and child pornography was found. That evidence was than taken to Jefferson County State’s Attorney Sean Featherstun and he presented the evidence to a judge who issued a warrant for Thomas’ arrest.

Thomas was ultimately arrested on the warrant and was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he remains awaiting arraignment in court.
