MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon police responded around lunch time Monday to a call from the Casey’s General Store at 921 South 42nd of a strong armed robbery.

According to MVPD Captain Jeff Bullard, the store manager was going to make a bank deposit when a subject reached into his car and grabbed the deposit bag. A struggle ensued and the subject managed to flee on foot with part of the deposit.

Another employee ran after the subject who was described as an African-American male with short dread locks, slight facial hair, a dark T-shirt, black jeans and dark shoes.

Officers responding to the call searched the area but Bullard says they did not locate anyone matching the description given of the subject.

Reportedly the subject only managed to grab checks and no cash before he fled.
