MARION COUNTY — Bail has been set at $20,000 for a 20-year-old Salem man facing new weapons charges after being arrested over the weekend for alleged burglary.

Dante Crosby was arrested in connection with the theft of two guns from a residence he’d visited on Red Stripe Road in rural Salem.

The daughter of the owners reportedly picked the lock to her parents bedroom allowing Crosby access to take the weapons. Marion County Sheriff’s deputies continue to investigate the case.

He was charged Tuesday in Marion County court with two counts Class 2 felony possession of a firearm. A Class 2 felony is punishable by 3 to 7 years in prison if convicted.

At the time of his arrest, Crosby was free on bond from a June arrest that led to him being charged in Marion County court with being a felon in possession of a firearm and misdemeanor possessing a firearm without a FOID card.

He’s next due in court August 14 for a preliminary hearing on the most recent charges.
