MARION COUNTY — A 69-year-old Kinmundy man arrested last year after Homeland Security intercepted a kilogram of bath salts being shipped to his home has been sentenced to two years felony probation.

Robert Lane pleaded guilty Wednesday in Marion County court to manufacture with the intent to deliver between 50 and 200 grams of a controlled substance, in exchange for a Class X felony charge of of manufacture with the intent to deliver more than 200 grams of a controlled substance.

Lane has been free on $5,000 cash bond since the day after his January 2017 arrest. He paid just over $1,800 in fines and court costs, with the remaining cash bond being returned.

Lane’s arrest came after agents with Homeland Security reportedly intercepted a package from China that contained 1,000 grams of bath salts and was to be delivered to Lane’s Kinmundy home.
