A 30-year-old Central City man is in the Marion County Jail after taking Central City police on a foot pursuit when they tried to arrest him on an outstanding warrant.

Andrew Szatkowski was wanted on a Marion County warrant for failing to appear in court on a charge of possessing a weapon by a felon. Bail on the warrant was set at $15,000.

Officers spotted Szatkowski Saturday night when he was a passenger in a car. The car was stopped in the 200 block of East Green Street when Szatkowski reportedly jumped from the car and fled the scene on foot.

Officers pursued and Szatkowski reportedly ran through several yards and jumped a fence before an officer located him behind a pole barn. He was then tasered as he again tried to run.

Once he was struck by the probes, he fell to the ground and was taken in to custody without further incident.
