MARION COUNTY — Traffic stops Sunday in Central City and Wamac landed three people in the Marion County Jail on drug charges.

A 26-year-old Centralia woman was arrested by Central City police at the request of Centralia police who wanted her for allegedly violating an order of protection.

When Central City police searched Brittini Scerba’s purse for her ID, they allegedly discovered a baggie containing a narcotic pill and a substance that tested positive as methamphetamine.

Scerba denied the substances belonged to her. But the 31-year-old driver of the Car, James Ellis, of Central City, later admitted he gave Scerba the baggie of meth when they saw police. He reportedly denied, however, having any knowledge of the narcotic pill.

Subsequently, both Ellis and Scerba were arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance, he for the meth and she for the pill. They were both transported to the Marion County Jail.

Wamac police arrested a 21-year-old Central City man for alleged possession of meth during a separate traffic stop.

When questioned, Dylan Starr reportedly admitted to police that he had a hypodermic needle, which he took out of officers. It allegedly tested positive for meth and he was taken to the Marion County Jail.

Bail was set in court Monday at $5,000 each for Scerba and Starr and was set at $2,500 for Ellis.

Scerba is charged with Class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance, while Ellis and Starr are each charged with Class 3 felony possession of less than 5 grams of meth.
