MARION COUNTY — A 40-year-old Mt. Vernon man was sentenced Tuesday in Marion County court to three years in prison for possession of under five grams of methamphetamine.

Samuel Powe pleaded guilty to the charge last October, but failed to appear for his sentencing hearing.

A $20,000 warrant was then issued for Powe’s arrest. He has remained in the Marion County Jail since his June arrest on the warrant.

In addition to his three-year prison sentence, Powe will have to serve one year of mandatory supervised release upon completion of his prison term.
