MT. VERNON — A 27-year-old Mt. Vernon man was sentenced Thursday in Jefferson County court to six-years in prison after he pleaded guilty to weapons charges.
Raymond Schneider was arrested earlier this month by Mt. Vernon Police for being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a hypodermic syringe/needle.
He was charged in court with Class 2 felony being a felon in possession of a weapon, for a second time, and misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic syringe or needle.
Schneider pleaded guilty to the weapons charge Thursday in exchange for the misdemeanor being dismissed.
He had pleaded not guilty to the charges during a Wednesday pre-trial hearing in the case and bail was set at $50,000.
