WASHINGTON COUNTY —A two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Interstate 64 in Washington County sent a 49-year-old Bluford man to the hospital with incapacitating injuries.

According to the Illinois State Police, around 3:10 p.m. Thursday afternoon, James Lumpkins of Bluford was traveling southbound on U.S. 51 when a car driven by 32-year-old Joshua Bourque of Centralia stopped at the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp.

Bourque then pulled into Lumpkins path after failing to notice the Lumpkins vehicle in traffic. Lumpkin’s vehicle struck the side of the Bourque vehicle near its front end causing major damage to both vehicles.

One lane of U.S. 51 southbound remained open throughout the incident.
