Jefferson County Treasurer Candidates Have Different Ideas For How to Keep Officer Holders Accountable in Managing Budget

JEFFERSON COUNTY — Counties across Illinois are feeling the financial pinch. Jefferson County is no exception. But two candidates running for the county’s treasurer position say the county has to be held accountable for how tax dollars are spent.

Bob Watt currently serves as Jefferson County Treasurer. He would like to see more frequent reviews of the budget.

Travis Allen is seeking the treasurer’s position after serving as Jefferson County Sheriff the past four years. He says transparency is more than just letting people know the bare minimum amount of information.

Election Day is set for November 6th.
