FAYETTE COUNTY — A 58-year-old Vandalia woman was sentenced Thursday in Fayette County court to three-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on an original charge of aggravated battery.

Sherry Evans pleaded guilty Thursday guilty to violating her probation on Class 2 felony aggravated battery of a peace officer. Judge Marc Kelly sentenced Evans to 36 months in prison to be followed by two-years mandatory supervised release.

She was given credit for 147 days already served.

In a separate case, Judge Kelly sentenced a 32-year-old Vandalia man to 30 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty to violating the sex offender registration.

Shawn Keith pleaded guilty to Class 3 felony providing false information to the registry, which had been reduced from the original Class 2 felony charge of violating the registry for a second time.

In addition to the 2 ½ year prison sentence, Keith will have to serve 1-year mandatory supervised release. He was given credit for 154 days already served.
