SALEM — The State Fire Marshall’s Office was called to investigate an early morning fire at a vacant home in Salem.

According to the Salem Fire Protection District, they responded just before 1 a.m. Monday, to a fire on South Washington.

Upon their arrival they could see smoke coming from the eaves of the vacant house.

Crews forced open the front door to make entry and were able to extinguish the fire in the front room of the house.

Odin Fire responded with an Engine and crew for automatic mutual aid.

The fire had gotten into insulation in the attic, so crews stayed on scene for a couple hours completing extensive overhaul.

The State Fire Marshall’s office was called to investigate the cause of the fire.
