CENTRALIA — Centralia residents will be electing a new mayor in April, as current Mayor Tom Ashby has announced he will not be seeking a third term.

Ashby served two years on city council before running for mayor where he has served for eight years.

In addition to a new mayor, voters will be selecting two council members, as two four-year seats are up for election in Centralia.

In Salem, voters will be selecting mayor and three council members.

Candidate petitions will start being accepted at 7:30 Monday morning at Centralia City Hall, with those in attendance for the same offices qualifying for a lottery to determine ballot position on Tuesday, December 4th.

Petitions will continue to be accepted from 7:30 to 4:30 pm Monday through Wednesday of this week as well as 7:30 am to 5 pm on the final day of filing on Monday, November 26th. .

In Salem, filing opens at 8 a.m. Monday and continues until 5 pm Monday through Wednesday of this week and then again on Monday, November 26th.
