CENTRALIA — A high-speed chase early Tuesday morning led to the arrest of a 21-year-old Centralia man who reportedly took Centralia police on a pursuit that started in downtown Centralia and ended south of Dix.

Brendan Warren was ultimately arrested on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding police, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and for being an unlicensed driver.

According to Centralia police, the incident began around 1:08 Tuesday morning when an officer observed a white truck run a red light at North Locust and Broadway.

The officer attempted a traffic stop but the driver instead fled east on Broadway into an alley where a parked car was struck.

The driver, now identified as Warren, then sped east on Noleman Street reaching speeds of at least 70 miles per hour in the 30 mile per hour zone.

Warren continued east on Route 161 until turning southbound on Interstate 57 where speeds reportedly reached 90 miles per hour.

He was ultimately arrested without further incident after he attempted to cross the median of the interstate at the Dix exit and the truck became stuck.

The daughter of the truck’s owner was reportedly listening to the pursuit on the police scanner when she heard her father’s name come across as the truck’s owner and contacted her dad, who in turn contacted police.

The truck was reportedly stolen shortly before the pursuit began from a home in the 800 block of North College.
