Balloons Over Mt. Vernon May 18 and 19, 2018. It will feature 12 balloons taking flight across Mt. Vernon, Illinois. The event will kick off on Friday evening at the Mt. Vernon Outland Airport where the gates will open for the Knapp Propane Balloon Glow. We have lots of family fun which will also occur that evening while waiting for the balloons to inflate. The balloons will take to the air on the morning of the Saturday the 19th just after sunrise flying over the airport lake where One Hope United 5K run will be occurring. After the fly-in stay and enjoy a wonderful Pancake Breakfast at SRT Aviation with part of the proceeds going to the EAA Chapter 1155 and Explorer Post #1155.
Saturday evening will have a Balloon Glow from 8-930pm at the airport. During the day on Saturday be sure to check the many other activities occurring. There will be many airplanes on the flight line…you never know what you will see there. The EAA Chapter will be providing Young Eagle Rides. Children 8-17 years of age may take an exploratory flight in an airplane. There will many other activities to enjoy during the day.
Sunday morning the Balloons will inflate and take flight from Mt. Vernon Aiport just after sunrise. It will be a spectacular site to see!
