(MT. VERNON, IL) — A 41-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been arrested for allegedly making a false terrorist threat on social media. Mt. Vernon authorities Monday arrested Travis Burgess for allegedly making numerous false public statements which created the impression that various terrorist acts were about to be committed. Burgess has been formally charged in Jefferson County Court with Class 1 felony making a terrorist threat. The specific threats were not been revealed. Bail for Burgess has been set at $100,000, with special conditions of release to not possess firearms, not enter any school or movie theater, and not use the internet or social media.
