(SALEM, IL) — A Saturday night search of a Vernon home has resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old Vernon man on multiple drug-related charges. Marion County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at the “A” Street home of Michael Rupert, where they reportedly found over 20 grams of methamphetamine packaged for sale, 278 grams of cannabis, nine cannabis plants, and 26 different prescription medications – 11 of which were narcotics considered controlled substances. Deputies also reportedly discovered electronic scales, drug paraphernalia, and a high chair in the kitchen with drug residue. A loaded .38 caliber gun was reportedly found with the drugs in a shed, and surveillance cameras were reportedly found in the home. Rupert was taken into custody on charges of Class X felony possession with the intent to deliver 15-100 grams of meth, possession of between 15-100 grams of meth, meth-related child endangerment, possession of meth in a protected structure, illegal possession of a weapon by a felon, production of 12 cannabis plants, and 11 counts manufacture with the intent to deliver a controlled substance. The warrant for Rupert’s home was secured after deputies had gone to the home to arrest 24-year-old Shannon Hack on outstanding Marion and Fayette county warrants. No one answered the door at the time but deputies reportedly found a cannabis plant growing in a pot outside the door. Hack returned to the home while deputies were waiting for the search warrant on the home. Rupert was not present at the time but was taken into custody later at a relative’s home.
