(SALEM, IL) — Salem police are investigating a reported strong-armed robbery Sunday night at the Family Video store on West Main in Salem. According to reports, around 8 p.m. Sunday, a man described as in his early 20s, 6-feet tall, with a scraggly beard and a slender build, walked into the store, pushed the clerk over the counter and grabbed about $250 before running northbound from the scene. No vehicle was reportedly seen but the Marion County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was able to track the suspect to the northeast side of town before the trail ended. Power that had been knocked out from early morning storms had not yet been restored to Family Video at the time of the robbery. The clerk suffered scrapes and bruises in the incident but did not require medical attention.
