CENTRALIA — A smoke scare at Centralia Junior High forced an evacuation as students arrived for school on Monday.
An exhaust fan reportedly overheated in the gymnasium causing the building to fill with light smoke according to a report. The style of ceiling in the gym reflected heat causing geothermal cameras to believe there was a fire.
Centralia Fire Department officials evacuated the building as a precaution but later determined there was only a smoke smell from the fan after removing several ceiling tiles.
No significant damage was reported.
