A 24-year-old Murphysboro woman is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday in Jackson County Court for the murder of a former Salem woman last summer.

Lauren Stinde has pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Robin Stief of Mt. Vernon, and formerly of Salem in August 2016.

Jackson County State’s Attorney Michael Carr says the charge carries a sentencing range of between 20 and 60 years in prison.
Stief’s burned remains were found in a wooded area in the 900 block of East Main Street in Carbondale on Aug. 30, 2016.

According to a Carbondale Police investigation, Stief had associated with Stinde and two others shortly before her death.
Police arrested Stinde on Oct. 28, 2016, for her involvement in the concealment of Stief’s remains. After she was arrested, Stinde confessed to detectives about her role in the murder and her role in the concealment of Stief’s body.

First-degree murder charges have also been filed against Tiesha D. Anderson and Robert J. Dennis. They each face two counts of first degree murder and one count of concealment of a homicidal death.

Anderson is scheduled to enter a plea in her case in December while the Dennis case is continuing toward trial.
