Two Mt. Vernon residents were arrested Thursday morning on multiple drug-related charges after an investigation by the Mt Vernon Police Department Narcotics Unit led to the Mt Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department High Risk Team serving a narcotics search warrant on a home in the 700 block of South 17th.

According to reports, 51-year-old William E Jones and 47-year-old Sarah J. Taylor were arrested after members of the HRT secured the residence.

Narcotics detectives conducted a search of the residence and reportedly located methamphetamine, drug equipment and firearm ammunition.

Jones was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of firearms ammunition by a felon and possession of drug equipment.

Taylor was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug equipment.

Both Jones and Taylor remain in jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.

The search warrant was issued after an investigation by Mt Vernon Narcotics Detectives indicated methamphetamine was being sold from the residence.
