A St. Charles, Missouri man died in a one-vehicle crash in Wayne County Wednesday afternoon.

Illinois State Police say 64-year-old Thomas E. Shull was driving his SUV east on I-64 in rural Wayne County just after 1:30 when for unknown reasons he left the roadway at the 93.5 mile post, drove through the south ditch and across County Road 70 North before striking a group of trees.

Shull was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County Coroner’s Office.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
