A Texas woman and her puppy were injured in a one-vehicle crash on I-64 in Wayne County Thursday morning.

According to Illinois State Police, just after 7:20 29-year-old Lindsay L. Horton of Paradise, Texas was driving her pickup truck east on I-64 at milepost 114-and-a-half when she reportedly fell asleep and left the south side of the roadway, overcorrected and then lost control of the truck. The truck overturned several times before coming to rest on all four tires.

Horton was flown from the scene to a regional hospital for injuries she sustained in the crash. Horton’s pet, a chocolate lab puppy, was injured and taken by the Fairfield Rural Fire Department to a local vet for treatment.

No charges were filed.
