GREENUP — It was a sight to see, but maybe not smell Friday afternoon just east of Effingham on I-70.
A livestock hauler overturned between Casey and Greenup, letting nearly 3,000 small pigs loose in the area.
Driver illness caused the crash, the driver was cited for improper lane usage.
As for the pigs, they were all rounded up thanks to the efforts of the Greenup Fire Protection District, the Greenup Police Department, Casey Police Department, IDOT portable scales, Effingham Equity, and other local volunteers. The surviving pigs have continued on their way to their destination in Indiana.
