DU QUOIN — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office believes the body of a man recovered in a remote area of Campbell Pond by a search team led by the sheriff’s office Thursday could be that of a missing Perry County man.

Officials say 43-year-old William Stroud was reported missing to Du Quoin Police on Jan. 17 of this year. An autopsy has been scheduled. The investigation into Stroud’s death continues.

Du Quoin Police, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, the Jackson County Coroner’s Office and Jackson County Ambulance Service assisted in Thursday’s recovery.
