MT. VERNON — WMIX/WDML brings you part 8 of a two-week series on the contested races for the school boards of Mt. Vernon City Schools District 80, Mt. Vernon Township High School District 201, and the Mt. Vernon City Council.

Today we have one of the candidates running for the District 80 School Board at Mt. Vernon’s City Schools, Kent Jackson.

Jackson when asked why he is running for the board.

Jackson hopes his experience with the Mt. Vernon Police Department as well as serving on other boards will help him in this election.

The other candidates running for Mt. Vernon City Schools District 80 School Board are David Edwards, Merle Hollman and Danny Young.
