JEFFERSON COUNTY — Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 31-year-old Mt. Vernon man Tuesday night after he allegedly attempted to flee a traffic stop.

Jimmy Buck was reportedly driving a 2007 Chevy north of Dix-Texico Road when a deputy attempted to pull him over for an alleged traffic violation. Buck reportedly fled rather than stop, which resulted in a pursuit.

Buck then fled on foot from the vehicle when his it became stuck on private property at a dead end road near Baseline Road and North Storment Lane. He was quickly captured and taken into custody.

Buck, a convicted felon, was also found to be in possession of a firearm. It was determined at the time he fled he was wanted on a Jefferson County failure to appear warrant on an original charge of driving while license suspended.

He was additionally charged with driving while license suspended, aggravated fleeing/attempting to elude police, obstructing a peace officer, felon in possession of a firearm, and multiple other traffic charges. No one was injured in the pursuit.

Buck was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he remains awaiting for the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail in court.
