UNION COUNTY — One person was killed and another one injured in a fatal traffic crash around 3:45 Wednesday afternoon on Ebenezer Church Road, just east of Illinois 127, in Union County.

According to Illinois State Police, 48-year-old Valerie Ann Sullivan was driving east on Ebenezer Church Road when her car left the roadway and struck a tree.

ISP troopers, the Union County Sheriff’s Office and Union County EMS responded to the scene. Sullivan and her passenger, 20-year-old Zachariah Dalton Sullivan, were extricated from the car. Valerie Sullivan was pronounced dead at an area hospital. Zachariah Sullivan was transported to an out of state hospital for treatment of injuries. They were not wearing seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
