MT. VERNON — A 49-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested early Sunday morning after a traffic stop reportedly revealed numerous drug and firearms violations.

According to Mt. Vernon police, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at 29th and Jones.

The driver of the vehicle, Jason Hill, was reportedly found to be in possession of a speed loader containing live ammunition. During a search of Hill’s vehicle officers located a loaded handgun.

The handgun was listed as stolen from Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Hill was taken into custody on charges of Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Equipment and Driving While License Revoked.

Hill was transported to the Jefferson County Jail with bail set at $30,000.
