MT. VERNON — Memorial Day is the unofficial start of the summer season, and for many of us, fireworks will be a part of our summer plans. Illinois strictly regulates who can buy and set off fireworks in the state, and the Mt. Vernon Fire Department will be conducting Consumer Fireworks Training for anyone interested in obtaining a consumer fireworks permit this summer.
Aaron Shook is the Public Education Officer with the Mt. Vernon Fire Department. He says they make the required class as entertaining and informative as they can.
All classes will be held at the Municipal Building West at 200 Potomac Blvd. in Mt. Vernon. If you have any other questions, call Shook at 242-6835.
Classes will be held on the following days:
May 28 – 6:30 p.m.
June 1 – 10 a.m.
June 4 – 6:30 p.m.
June 17 – 6:30 p.m.
