WHITE COUNTY — A Crossville man will spend the next five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for aggravated domestic battery stemming from an incident between him and his father last month at the father’s home in Crossville.
White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud says 52-year-old Andy L. Scarlett will have to serve 85 percent the sentence and serve four years of mandatory supervised release.
Scarlett and his father, 86-year-old Gene L. Scarlett, were involved in a verbal argument at Gene Scarlett’s home in the 100 block of South Goodman Street in Crossville last month. Andy Scarlett struck his father with a metal cane several times in the head causing a large gash to the back of Gene Scarlett head. His left arm also appeared to be broken. He was treated at the scene, then taken to an Indiana hospital for further treatment.
Andy Scarlett was then located by Crossville Police and the White County Sheriff’s Office on the back patio of the home. He told officers what had happened. He was then arrested, charged with aggravated domestic battery and taken to the White County Jail. His bail was set at $75,000.
