A 61-year-old Centralia man appeared in Marion County court Monday where he was charged with multiple child sex charges in two separate cases.

Wamac police arrested Dennis Tate over the weekend on warrants issued Friday for his arrest.

The warrants were issued in response to an investigation that was launched by the Sandoval Police Department.

Tate was formally charged in one case Monday with Class X count of predatory criminal sexual assault and five Class 2 felonies – two for aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a victim under the age of 13 and three for aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a family member.

The second case charges him with two Class 2 felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a child under the age of 13.

Tate indicated in court Monday that he would hire a private attorney to represent him against the charges.

He’s next scheduled to appear in court at 10 a.m. Wednesday. He remains held in the Marion County Jail with bail set at $500,000.
