FRANKLIN COUNTY — The Franklin County Board passed an ordinance at Tuesday night’s meeting that will not allow the sale of cannabis anywhere in the unincorporated parts of Franklin County.

With recreational cannabis becoming legal in Illinois Jan. 1, Crocker says counties and cities across Illinois will have to make decisions on this issue. Crocker feels at this time that Franklin County should not allow the sale of recreational cannabis in parts that are not incorporated.

When asked if he thought Franklin County would miss out from the potential revenue recreational cannabis could generate, Crocker noted that there are so many other things to look at besides revenue.

County Board Chairman Randall Crocker says within the ordinance is a .75 percent tax on any cannabis sold in the incorporated parts of Franklin County.
