CENTRALIA — A 9-year-old boy was injured in a Tuesday night fire at a home on Big Bend Lane on Lake Centralia.

According to Salem firefighters, the fire at the Doug and Tima Trupp home started around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in an upstairs bedroom occupied by a 9-year-old boy.

The child reportedly suffered burns to his hands and feet but was able to go downstairs and alert his parents of the fire.

The three occupants were able to escape the fire without any other injuries being suffered. The child was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire and kept it largely contained to the boy’s bedroom with one wall of the room suffering major fire damage. The remainder of the home, however, suffered heavy smoke and water damage.

The fire is not considered suspicious but because it did involve an injury the State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate.
