MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon Police Chief confirmed that MVPD responded to a double shooting Monday afternoon that sent two people to an area hospital.

Mt. Vernon police were called around 3:20 Monday afternoon to the 1700 block of South 12th Street on a report of a person having been shot.

One shooting victim was reportedly located at the South 12th Street location and another was reportedly located a few blocks away at a location in the 1100 block of Gilbert Avenue.

Two black male suspects were possibly seen in a black Nissan Altima with Missouri plates.

The victims were reportedly transported to an area hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time and no further information is available at this time.
