SESSER — The City of Sesser is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $5,000 grant to assist with the US Census.
In a press release, Sesser mayor Jason Ashmore says the Census is extremely important for many reasons including grants, recouping taxes already paid by Sesser residents and representation. Many of the taxes you already pay are disbursed to government entities by population so it is important to make sure we all participate and make sure we are counted in the upcoming census.
He goes on to say that no one likes to pay taxes but residents should work hard to make sure the community receives its fair share.
The city thanks the Illinois Public Health Association, State of Illinois, US Census Bureau staff and our City Librarian Leandra Wilson for working hard to obtain this grant.
