CENTRALIA, IL — A police pursuit Wednesday has Centralia police looking for a 24-year-old male suspect that fled from the vehicle after it crashed into a yard and narrowly missed striking a house.
Matthew “Matty” Woods is wanted in connection with a drug deal that an officer interrupted near Sycamore and Rasback in Centralia.
As the officer approached, the vehicle Woods was in sped away, before driving through yards, crashing into a tree in the 300 block of North Pine and just missing a house. The vehicle matched the description of one reported by a 65-year-old Centralia woman as stolen earlier in the day.
Multiple subjects were reportedly in the vehicle at the time and officers with the Wamac Police Department responded to assist.
After a brief pursuit, and a rigorous struggle that included the suspect biting the responding Wamac officer, 19-year-old Anthony Dickerson was taken into custody on numerous counts of aggravated battery to a police officer.
He was additionally arrested by Centralia police on charges of possession of a controlled substance for drugs reportedly discovered in his possession when he was searched at the police department.
Woods reportedly fled the crash on foot and remains at large. Police ask anyone with knowledge of Woods’ whereabouts to contact the Centralia Police Department at 533-7602.
Police also arrested 26-year-old Danielle Ruepke, of Centralia, on an outstanding Marion County warrant for failure to appear on a possession of a controlled substance conviction.
