SESSER — Cleanup continues on Vine Road in Sesser where a BNSF train carrying 20 to 25 full coal cars derailed Saturday morning.
According to Franklin County Emergency Management, environmental assessment is being completed to ensure there are no major impacts to the surrounding environment as recovery is ongoing. Rail traffic resumed around 4 Sunday afternoon with trains limited to 10 mph. Clean up is expected to last two to three weeks.
There’s no word as to when Vine Road will reopen. We will keep you posted.
