CENTRALIA — Centralia police have arrested a 24-year-old man who had been sought since fleeing an attempted stop over a week ago, and discovered an apparent counterfeit currency operation inside the house where he was apprehended.

Matthew “Matty” Woods was arrested Thursday and charged Friday morning in Marion County Court with Class 4 felony aggravated fleeing police.

Officers reportedly spotted Woods Thursday afternoon when he ran into a home in the 600 block of East Kerr in Centralia.

Woods and 39-year-old Sue Ann Rivera were both pulled from the attic of the home where they were reportedly hiding in the insulation.

They had both apparently been living for weeks in the basement of the home where officers reportedly found a printing press, directions on how to print currency, paper on which to print currency and over $2,000 in counterfeit $10, $20, and $100 bills.

Woods was apparently in a vehicle last week when a Centralia officer reportedly interrupted it in the middle a drug deal near Sycamore and Rasback in Centralia.

As the officer approached, the vehicle Woods was in sped away, before driving through yards, crashing into a tree in the 300 block of North Pine and just missing a house.

Woods was also wanted on an outstanding Marion County warrant for failure to appear on a 2019 charge of possessing methamphetamine and on an outstanding Clinton County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of resisting arrest.

Rivera was wanted for failure to appear on a possession of methamphetamine charge, with bond set at $50,000.
