HARRISBURG — In-person classes at Illinois schools are done for the school year after Governor J.B. Pritzker’s announcement Friday. Illinois schools have been shut down since March 17.

Harrisburg School District Superindent Mike Gauch says he feels sorry for all of his students that have missed out on so much in-person learning.

Gauch says e-learning will continue in the district. The current learning packet is due at each child’s building office by April 28th, and that is also when the next and final packet for the year will be available. Gauch says the e-learning plan in place has gone better than he could have expected.

Gauch says the district will have e-learning packets ready to go if next school year starts as this one will end, but he hopes the stay-at-home order can be lifted in early summer to be able to offer some summer schooling, the summer lunch program in-person, and a graduation ceremony and proper sendoff for the class of 2020.
