MT. VERNON, IL — Two Mt. Vernon men were arrested Friday night for residential burglary that included many household items and firearms.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the site of the reported burglary at 10801 E Cedar Hills Road in Mt. Vernon and made contact with Jason M. and Michael W. Upton, both 39 years old.

The JCSO recovered numerous items of stolen property from Jason’s home on Pine Drive in Mt. Vernon. Both men were taken to the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $150,000 on the felony charge of residential burglary.

Jason Upton was formally charged in Jefferson County Court Monday with class 3 felony possession of less than 5 grams of meth. The investigation is ongoing with more criminal charges anticipated.
