WHITE COUNTY, IL — A Carmi woman is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop in White County Monday afternoon.

According to the White County Sheriff’s Office, 67-year-old Diane Strong was pulled over shortly before 2:30 on County Road 700 East and Herald Blacktop.

The officer asked Strong to get out of the car and she did. The officer told Strong that there was an active warrant out for her arrest. Strong’s driver’s license was also found to be revoked. Strong told the officer she didn’t have a driver’s license. Strong was taken to the White County Jail.

An inventory search of Strong’s vehicle was done prior to it being towed. The officer found inside a purse in the driver’s seat a small black pouch containing one clear glass smoking pipe with a white crystalline residue inside and a green glass smoking pipe with a white crystalline residue. It’s believed both pipes had been used to inhale meth. The officer also found a small silver container with a screw top lid inside the black pouch. Inside this container were two small clear plastic baggies containing a white crystalline substance believed to be meth. An orange prescription bottle with a child proof lid inside the purse was found. Inside it was a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. The officer secured these items into evidence.

The officer later went to the sheriff’s office where he got a copy of the White County warrant for Strong. The officer informed Strong about the charges listed on the warrant and she understood them along with the required cash bond of $15,000 or $1,500 in cash. Strong told the office she knew there was meth in the vehicle.

The officer cited Strong for driving while license revoked and told her that her mandatory court date was Nov. 10.

The officer weighed both small plastic bags located in the silver container. One bag weighed one gram and the substance field tested positive for meth. The second bag weighed two grams and was not field tested. The officer also field tested both glass smoking pipes. They both tested positive for meth. These items were secured into evidence.

Strong was charged with the White County warrant along with possession of methamphetamine, driving while license revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of property. Strong was held in the White County Jail pending setting of bond by the White County State’s Attorney’s Office.
