FAYETTE COUNTY, IL — Bail was set at $100,000 Friday for a 59-year-old Vandalia man charged in Fayette County Court with multiple counts possessing child pornography.
Thomas Scott was arrested earlier last week as part of Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s ongoing work to apprehend offenders who download and trade child pornography.
Scott was charged Friday with six counts Class 1 felony possession of child pornography.
Raoul’s investigators, with the assistance of the Vandalia Police Department, conducted a search of a residence on Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the 1900 block of West Randolph Street in Vandalia and arrested Scott after discovering evidence that he allegedly possessed child pornography.
The Attorney General’s office will prosecute the case along with the Fayette County State’s Attorney’s office.
Scott is next due in court December 15, for a preliminary hearing and first appearance with his court appointed attorney.
If released on bond, Scott is prohibited from having contact with anyone under the age of 18.
